ANTIQUE
DETROIT CAST IRON MICHIGAN CENTRAL STATION DEPOT VICTORIAN ARCHITECTURE – { SET
– B }
{
THIS STUFF IS INCREDIBILITY ATTRACTIVE
}
GENERIC DESCRIPTION HOW I LEGALLY ACQUIRED ARTIFACTS FROM THE 1912
M.C.R.R. STATION :
This is a generic description for all of the antique brass,
bronze and cast iron artifacts that I have been offering for sell that were all
originally installed in the construction of Detroit’s last remaining {
1912 Historic Michigan
Central Train Station
}. There have been quite a few questions regarding how these pieces
were acquired so here is the direct short version.  31 years ago in 1990 I
had purchased the salvage rites for the removal of the last remaining artifacts
from the then owner of the building. Prior to conducting any transactions with
the owner the building had sat vacant for a short while. During the transition
of the vacant property from the previous private owner to the new owner during
1989 to 1990 the street thieves had broken into the building and began stealing
most of  the solid brass and bronze light fixtures and cast iron
ornamentation  for scrap metal value. Because they created such a swarm of
noticeable activity late at night into the early morning it drew the attention
of the 3rd Police Precinct around the corner on West Vernor. Many of the
thieves were arrested and the truck loads of brass lighting and artifacts were
confiscated as evidence and placed in the {
Detroit Police Mt.
Elliot Impound Yard
}. The police had contacted the owner and he was informed to make
arrangements to come and retrieve his property. I had gone to the impound yard
with him and seen several large 50 gallon steel drums full of all sorts of
artifacts.  The owner allowed me to purchase as much as I wanted
because he was taking the barrels to the nearest scrap yard on Mt. Elliot Road
for scrap metal value. I had acquired many pieces and began selling them as souvenirs
back in 1990 through to 2001.  I had placed some select pieces away and
now I have brought them out of storage to place them on ebay. Each piece I
offer for sale has been washed with industrial soap and disinfected because
many of the items I obtained retained a very dark filthy surface because of
years of neglect and a thick film covered the ornate raised relief patterns.
That’s pretty much the story of how I acquired the architectural artifacts from
the station. The following below gives a brief description of the artifact
condition and size.
ITEM
DESCRIPTION :
Hello
and thank you for expressing an interest in my auction. I am offering for your
consideration the following. This auction is for – – – {
#1 Complete Set

B
} – – – of
very ornate cast iron historic artifact that was originally installed around
the 60 foot tall cathedral windows of the main lobby of {
Detroit’s Historic 1912 Michigan Central Train
Station
} . 30 years ago I had 27 complete
sets of both Oak and Laurel Leaf pattern, now I am selling my last three sets.
These sets of all matching {
3
} pieces are extremely scarce and are not readily
available for sell in any common antique shop.  Each set I offer is “
Very Attractive
” in
it’s own way by style, design, appearance, condition, etc. This set was removed
from around the windows which was used as the ornate border going all the way
around the entire windows – {
As Seen
In The Posted Pictures
}. – This {
3
} piece matching
set is the – {
Oak Leaf & Acorn
Pattern
} –  It has the over lapping
oak leaf pattern with sporadic acorns with the center medallion as a star burst
of oak leaves.  As with many of my other items from the old station these
are in limited quantity and once these – {
Last
3 Sets
} –  sell I have no more
available. Of the many pieces of ornate cast iron sold during the last 31 years
these are “
Truly The Last Remaining
Sets I Have To Offer
” Once they are
gone –
That’s It
– Of the remaining 5 sets I started with last month I
now currently have the last 3 sets listed on ebay.
ITEM CONDITION :
The over all condition for this solid cast iron window border is

Exceptional Condition
” for being 109 years old with no damage.
This one is the – {
Oak Leaf & Acorn Pattern
} – which is what
most all of the floral pattern in the old station was designed with.  You
will see in the pictures posted there are a few black & white from 1912
that show this set installed around the arched windows. All 3 sets have no
damage and still retain the original pale green paint from 1912. These can be
displayed horizontally or place the center medallion at the bottom with the two
branches on each side facing upward like a horse shoe shape which too is very
attractive. If you have a creative mind, you can make use of this border in
many ways – {
Simply Stated This Is Just A Great Historic Artifact
