Description

I found these tiles at an antique show in Dallas about a year after Hurricane Katrina came through New Orleans.  There were many architectural pieces salvaged from the homes that were not rebuilt.  I loved them and promised to make a table or even use them in my kitchen remodel.  But they were relegated to the garage and left forgotten in a corner.  The pandemic found us cleaning out closets and finally the garage.  I still love these tiles.  They belong to a good home.  I do not see any grout on the back of them.  I think they were affixed to a wood piece.  I scraped off something that reduced to powder.  The material the tiles are made out of is still intact and strong.  The surface of the tiles with designs on the front have crazing but are still vibrant and beautiful.  I know they are at least 100 years old if not more.  They are from Italy, France or Spain since those were the countries with most influence over design in New Orleans.  But I am almost certain they are Italian.
