Historic Pair of Boy and Girl Figures from a Terra Cotta Frieze

Description

Circa 1910 portions of a figural frieze from the facade of the 42nd and Vanderbilt, Warren and Wetmore building. Adjacent to New York City’s Grand Central Station, it was built to suit the progress of the bustling train station concourse. The Beaux Arts architecture of the facade of the building was designed to compliment the outstanding architecture of Grand Central Terminal, also designed by Warren and Wetmore. Grand Central was the largest architectural  and commerce deal in New York City at the turn of the century, spanning over 20 New York city blocks. The terminal, of course, is land marked. But the complimentary surrounding buildings have now made way for a new era of progress. This structure that faced the west side entrance of the terminal for a century has now been torn down to make way for New York City’s fourth tallest sky scraper building at what is now called One Vanderbilt. The artifacts carefully salvaged from this building are as close as you can get to having a piece of the historic Grand Central terminal itself!

Shipping cost is
determined by the type of item purchased, your location, and your preference in
shipping speed and carrier. Upon purchasing, you will receive pictures of the
item’s current condition. We will need approval before shipping.
OGT Delivery
For large items that
are not time-sensitive, OGT delivery is an excellent, cost-effective solution.
This option can decrease the shipping price by about half that of freight, but
in most cases will take longer.  Our trucks are in New York City weekly.
We will not be able to guarantee a delivery date, up until the point that the
driver calls to set up the appointment. Message for a quote.
Freight
For large items
(over 50 lb., larger than 30 in.), the quickest (though costliest) shipping
option is freight. All items are crated at our onsite freight department in our
Scranton, PA National Warehouse. There is an additional $50+ crating charge for
this service that will be factored in your quote. Processing typically takes
1-2 weeks, depending on the item’s size. Scheduling for delivery will be made
with the most cost-effective and highly trusted carrier option. Every shipment
is insured in case of damage during shipment. For shipments to residential
addresses, a lift gate will be automatically included, at an added cost of
$50+. Shipments to commercial addresses with loading docks available (without
the need for a lift gate) may be exempted from this additional fee, upon
request. All crates have Phillips head screws on one side so that they can be
easily opened by the customer.
Store Pick Up
You can pick up your
order at any of our New York City stores or our Scranton, PA National
Warehouse, for Free. Processing time may take up to 1-2 weeks, depending on the
original location. We also have a location in Los Angeles that we ship a large
freight container several times a year. There is an additional handling charge
for this option – please contact us for more details.
Return Shipping
Return shipping is
at the buyer expense if you change your mind or the item isn’t compatible. If
the item is damaged in shipping we will take care of this issue. Please send
pictures to verify the damage.
Tax
Please be aware that
all states will be charged sales tax, except for following Alaska, Arkansas,
Delaware, Hawaii, Montana, New Hampshire, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, South
Dakota & West Virginia.
